Network bandwidth refers to the maximum amount of data that can be transmitted over a network connection within a given period, typically measured in bits per second (bps). It determines the speed and capacity of a network, influencing how efficiently data moves between devices and servers.

Higher bandwidth allows for faster data transfer and better performance, especially in applications requiring large amounts of data, such as video streaming, cloud computing, and online gaming. Bandwidth is often confused with network speed, but while speed measures how fast data travels, bandwidth represents the total data capacity available.
