Phishing

Phishing is a type of cyberattack where attackers trick individuals into providing sensitive information, such as passwords, credit card details, or login credentials, by pretending to be a legitimate entity. This is often done through deceptive emails, fake websites, or fraudulent messages designed to appear trustworthy.

Key Warning Signs:

  • Urgent Requests – Messages pressuring immediate action (e.g., "Your account will be locked!").
  • Suspicious Links – URLs that look similar to, but slightly different from, legitimate sites.
  • Unusual Senders – Emails from unfamiliar or spoofed addresses.
  • Unexpected Attachments – Files that prompt downloads or request login details.

How to Stay Protected:

  • Verify Senders – Always check the authenticity of emails and messages.
  • Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – Adds an extra layer of security.
  • Avoid Clicking Suspicious Links – Hover over links to preview URLs before clicking.
  • Regularly Update Passwords – Use strong, unique passwords for cloud storage and other accounts.
